UNDER THE MANGO TREE: Kiko Life Makes Over Tamsin Barzane

kiko_001.png

While we were over at Saminaka last night, one of our dearest sissas in-world came by: The one and only, incomprable Tamsin Barzane...

Now, I've been trying to convert Tamsin (as I am trying to convert all my girlfriends) to wearing Kiko Life skin, most are either skin whores themselves and already in possession of more skins that one avatar could possibly use or in cases like Tamsin, very attached to their skins. I have in fact, cracked quite a few of those nuts, but Tam was and has been a particularly tough one.

Well, Tamsin is going to be three next month, and like I tell everyone, beautiful makeup finishes your look or is the basis for a fantastic finished look. So, once more, and far more ruthlessly than usual I might add, and because I love Tammy Tam, I pounced.

She in fact, wrote a fantastic piece about her experience being made over by Kiko Life, and I heartily encourage you to visit her EXCELLENT Saminaka Compass to read it. Her witty re-telling captures some salient points about what we're trying to do at Kiko Life.

AFTER

Yes, Kiko Moleno, alt to Osuntomi Melendez, had caught me at a vulnerable moment. It was Makeover Time! Just like countless preteen slumber parties and Glamour magazines.

She circled me, sizing me up. "Hmmm, Butterscotch." Although my conditioned response to the word "butterscotch" was to start salivating for candy, I already knew Kiko's skins were named as deliciously as they look--toffee, cocoa, tea, caramel--but would they look tasty on me? My alt had already enjoyed many compliments in a Kiko skin....so I bit my lip and clicked!

And was delighted! I was still Tam--I know it's the shape that makes the features, but still was afraid I wouldn't recognize myself. My structural integrity was intact, but my complexion bloomed, my lashes lengthened, I had scads of new looks for new moods!

Surrender To Style: "Teef your head" An Interview with the beautiful mind behind Kiko Life: Shapes and Skins for the African American Avatar.

Afrosia Coche from over at Surrender To Style, interviewed Tomi recently for her blog. It was a very good interview!

Read her intro below, and go read the 'edited' conversation. (LMAO!)

I had the pleasure of interviewing the wonderful Osuntomi Melendez, founder and creator of Kiko Life: Shapes and Skins and http://www.kikolife.com/.

She is a visionary for the African American SL community. Providing well made, beautifully designed, and realistically captured shapes and skins, affordable for the hard working avvie who wants to look especially well taken care of.

I had the opportunity to sit down with her, and discuss her work, her latest idea's, and the history behind the name. She provided me with well thought out and detailed answers, making this an especially intriguing interview!

So sit back and enjoy meeting Osuntomi Melendez!
